The Bread Of Life

The first I Am statement of Jesus is “I Am the bread of life.” Jesus is the living bread that came down from heaven. That one may eat of it and not die.

John 6:51 states that whoever eats of this flesh shall live forever. The bread, represents the flesh of Jesus, which He has given for the life of the world. And the drink represents the blood of Jesus.

Jesus said, “Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise Him up at the last day.

“For he who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.”

The bible tells us that our fathers ate manna in the wilderness and are dead!! But if we eat the living bread that came down from heaven, we will have not die! What does this mean? Does it mean that we will never taste death?? No!!

While we are on this earth we will die…..but though our bodies become lifeless & we physically die. Our souls will live ETERNALLY with Jesus in heaven. And we will not have second death….that is, we will not spend eternity in hell. And on the last day, God will raise everyone who has died in Him.

After we accept Jesus as our Lord & Savior, it is important that we take part in communion….that is eat & drink, the body & blood of Jesus Christ, so that we can take part in His glory, for remission of our sins & spend eternity in heaven with Jesus.
